Mechanical Engineering Student
Hannah Gillespie, originally from Johnsburg, Illinois, is a senior studying mechanical engineering. Gillespie has worked with Prof. Juliano since her junior year to implement background-oriented schlieren technique for the Mach 6 hypersonic wind tunnel. Following her sophomore year, she interned with Boeing Research & Technology in Charleston, SC to automate the composite repair process. Last summer, Gillespie worked as a member of the flutter team in Boeing Commercial Aircraft product development in the Puget Sound. She is also a leader for Notre Dame’s Design, Build, Fly team, which fabricates a remote-controlled student-designed aircraft and flies it in an annual competition. Gillespie enjoys reading, piano, hiking, and playing basketball.
