The Notre Dame Hypersonic Aerodynamics Lab was founded by Professor Thomas Juliano in 2014, bringing expertise gained from his work at Purdue University and AFRL on quiet tunnel development and hypersonic experimentation. The group's flagship facility is the newly commissioned AFOSR–Notre Dame Large Mach-6 Quiet Tunnel, a world class facility with unique capabilities. The research focuses of the Hypersonic Aerodynamics Lab span from fundamental work in boundary layer transition to applied work in facility development and scramjet aerodynamics. We regularly collaborate with academic and government groups, such as Team Schneider at Purdue University and AFRL.
